- Povolání: mezi lety 1934 a 1936; a proprietor of an ice wagon2
- Anekdote: mezi lety 1934 a 1936; "Peter's last job, 1934-1936, was as the proprietor of the icehouse (wagon) across the street from the house at 447 Newfield Ave. I can still picture that old ice wagon in the vacant lot across the street from 447 on the corner of Newfield Ave. and Smith St. It was like a wooden box with two large, spoked iron wheels in back and two smaller ones in front. The wagon was stationary. It could have been horse drawn to make house-to-house deliveries - the only problem was that Grandpa didn't have a horse! The ice wagon contained blocks of ice about a foot square, called "cakes", and would sell for about ten cents apiece. I remember sitting on the front of the ice wagon and a customer would come up with his wagon to buy a cake of ice to take home to put into his icebox (this was before refrigerators!). I would go inside, drag the cake of ice along the floor of the wagon to the front with ice tongs and give it to the customer. The ice wagon wasn't a bad place to be on a hot summer day!"
(John Steven Slais)2 - Anekdote*: okolo r. 1935; "As for Grandpa the only thing I 'remember' about him was an incident that must have happened when I was five or six (he died in 1936). I can't swear that I remember it or if I were told about it. Grandpa and Gus Dering, a next-door neighbor, were sitting on the front porch of 447 Newfield. Grandpa sent me down to Joe Marchio's store to get a can of sardines. He had done this before and he knew I liked sardines and that I would open the can on the way home and have some. He was setting me up! Well, as he figured, I ate the sardines, of course, and they had a grand old laugh (and I had my sardines!). "
